Online therapy

Affordable online therapy

Undertaking therapy can be a life changing process, resulting in increased self understanding, a greater sense of calm and a more positive outlook. As a psychotherapist, I can support you to overcome a range of mental health issues.

My areas of expertise

I have particular expertise in the following areas:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Phobias

  • OCD

  • PTSD

  • Stress and burnout

  • Identity issues

  • Relationship issues

  • Addictions

  • Sleep problems

Weekly therapy can be booked on an open ended basis, or for an agreed time period – it is entirely up to you. The sessions are conducted online via Zoom, whatsapp video or a phone call. Each session costs £60 per 60 minutes, and the first introductory session is free.

What happens in each session

I use a mix of Client-Centered Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in my sessions. The exact approach is led by the needs of the person I am working with.

Client-Centered Psychotherapy holds the belief that clients and therapists are equal partners.

It is a non-directive therapy, where the client talks through their problems/issues in a climate of empathy, trust, positive regard and congruence. This allows the client to make new understandings and have different choices.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that recognises that the thoughts we have impact upon our feelings, our behaviours and how we feel physically (and vice versa).

CBT is a little more stuctured, as it involves reflecting consciously on our thoughts and noting the impact that has on how we feel emotionally and the impact it has on our bodies. If we use CBT, we might use worksheets and schedule some activities for you to undertake between sessions.

EMDR therapy for trauma

If required, I can provide specialist therapy for people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy which involves recalling traumatic memories while simultaneously moving the eyes from side to side.

This is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. It is a powerful and effective therapy, recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

At this point we organise a free, no obligation introductory chat so you can ask any questions and we can see how it might feel to work together.

If everything feels right, we then book in some sessions. We can book in as many or as few as you would like.

“Simon is really empathic, and I got a lot out of our sessions. I feel like my life has moved on in the right direction since I started therapy with him." - Mrs S, client.”
